Emergency crews rush to Statesville Regional Airport after reported plane crash
STATESVILLE, N.C. – A Cessna C550 business jet crashed while attempting to land at Statesville Regional Airport in Iredell County around 10:15 a.m. Thursday erupting into flames.
Authorities have now confirmed seven fatalities, although FAA data showed six people were on board the aircraft, leaving no survivors. The victims have been identified as Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, and their two children (daughter Emma and son Ryder), Dennis Dutton, Jack Dutton, and Craig Wadsworth.
Public and business records indicate the jet is registered to GB Aviation Leasing LLC, a company linked to semi-retired NASCAR driver Greg Biffle.
The FAA and NTSB are leading the investigation, and Statesville Regional Airport remains closed until further notice as crews clear debris and continue their work.
